12 The Nevada County Nugget] Wed., June 20,1973 THE WINNER of the Nevada City Bicvele Race was a junior rider from Palo Alto, Keith Vierra. Making a presentation of flowers to the winner was 4th of July queen candidate, Vickie Ozanich. 1 Year $3.00 A mobile library unit, designed to make library materials and information about educational opportunities at Sierra College available to Residents in Mexican-American areas, will begin operation this week. ‘The summer project, ‘‘Viva La Raza y Biblioteca!,’’ is cosponsored by the public libraries of Placer County and the Sierra College Library. Sierra’s mobile unit has been outfitted to accommodate a variety of literary treasures, including books on * Mexican art, history, literature, travel, social conditions, music and culture. The ‘‘library-onwheels”’ will also carry posters, phonograph records, films, Magazines, magnetic tapes and Spanish language newspapers. The mobile unit will stop in Roseville, at Duranta and Circuit Drive, June 19, July 3 Streets, June 26, July 10 and 24. The van will stop at McBean Park and East Street in Lincoln on June 21, July 5 and 19. Colfax residents may visit the mobile library at Old City Hall, June 28, July 12 and 26. The Sierra van will arrive at each stop at 7:30 p-m. and will show MexicanAmerican films at 8:30 p.m. The project is being jointly ‘ and 17, and at Vernon adn “Ek” Sierra opens mobile library hosted by the Placer County Concilio with Mrs. Isabel Bravo, Roseville; Mrs. Rosa Estrada, Lincoln; and Mr. Ray Rubio, Colfax serving as_ bi-lingual interpreters for the mobile library. Conrad Pfieffer, Roseville Public Library and Bill Pierce, Sierra College Library have been responsible for coordination the project. Pfieffer and Pierce urge all area residents who are interested in Mexico to visit the van while it’s in their community. Registration & other information about Sierra College is also included on the van. The College is particularly interested, in contacting noncollege age adult residents who would be interested in attending adult-level, no fee, college classes in their own community
LAUNDROMAT BURGLARY . The Speed Queen Laundromat’ was burglarized Monday, the owner reported to Grass Valley police. Leeper of Marysville is a member of a Strategic Air Command wing which has earned: the U. S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Airman Leeper, an automatic flight control systems specialist, is assigned at Beale AFB, Calif., with the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing which received the award for _ over-all professionalism and excellence in all operations and maintenance areas from July 1, 1971, through June of last year. The unique unit, with Lockheed SR-71 aircraft capable of flying at three times the speed of sound at an altitude in excess of 80,000 feet, was specifically cited for gathering intelligence data vital to national interests and for its accident-free flying record. Airman Leeper will wear a ‘distinctive service ribbon to mark his affiliation with the wing. — The airman attended Chico State College and Sierra Junior College, Rocklin, Calif.
