Main St., Hills Flat, Grass Valley 273-2430 Camptonville Schools Graduate Class Of '61 By Irene Stoops The Camptonville School graduation exercises were given June 2 at 8 in the school auditorium, Curtains of spiral, pastel crepe paper covered the windows and were centered with replicas of Caps and Scrolls. The stage was decorated with sprays of Paul Scarlet roses and a huge ‘61 was in the background, The program opened with the processional of both high school and eighth grade graduates. The flag salute was led by Dwight Queen, Jr. and the invocation was given by Father Daniel Minogue. The four high school graduates' speech theme was "Life is Worth Living". Gerald Stevens spoke on "If We Have Vision"; Patrick Brown on "If We Have Knowledge"; Willanette Groves on "If We Have Love" and William Wortell on "If We Have Faith". The Camptonville High School Choir s ang, "Alina Mater", "Ave Verum" and "God of Our Fathers", The Declaration of Inde-' pendence was given in unison by the five eighth grade graduates: -Laird Brown, Millard Groves, Richard Humphrey, Kim Moore and Dwight Queen, Jr. NealE. Wade, superintendent of Marysville Union High School District, spoke to the graduates. King C, Stevens, principal of Camptonville School, presented the graduates and high school diplomas were presented by Elmer Ames, president of the Marysville board of trustees. were presented by William Groves, president of Camptonville board of trustees. Gerald Stevens, high school graduate, was presented a lifetime certificate in the California Scholarship Federation, on academic achievement. In the absence of Reverend Kenneth Miner, the benediction was given by Chaplain Clyde Estey. Following the graduation exercises Mr. and Mrs. King C, Stevens gave a reception for the Marysville and the Camptonville trustees at the E, L. Stoops home. Those attending from Marysville were:-Robert J. Wapple, Yuba County superintendent of schools; Wade; Ames; Dr. Charles Clement, clerk; Mrs. Charles Clement; Barbara Clinger and J. William Young. Those attending from Camptonville were Mr. and Mrs. Groves, Mr. and Mrs, Lester Brown, Mr. and Mrs, Henry North, Walter Fore and the host and hostess. Also following the graduation, Miss Willanette Groves gave a party for her fellow graduates and their friends at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Groves. Brown today appointed two new members and reappointed another to the board of directors of the 17th District Agricultural Association, which operates the Nevada County Fair at Grass Valley. Reappointed was Gail Gordon, 111 Sierra Drive, Grass Valley. A Republican, he 'has been a member of the board nine years.
