Dedication set
Friday for new
park at Tahoe
SACRAMENTO--One of the
state parks system's newer
campgrounds, Sugar Pine Point
State Park at Lake Tahoe, will
be formally dedicated Friday,
June 23, at 3 p.m.
The dedication is being cosponsored by the Lake Tahoe
State Parks Advisory Committee and the State Park’and Recreation Department, and will
be held at the park's General
Creek Campground, ten miles
south of Tahoe City on State
Highway 89,
The program will include a
presentation of colors by Boy
Scout Troup 222 of Kings Beach,
invocation by Rev, Leonard shaheen of St. Nicholas Episcopal
Church in Tahoe City, and addresses by dignitaries and officials, including California State
Park and Recreation Commission Chairman Lowell Berry,
Department Deputy Director Ray
Hunter, and Advisory Committee
past chairman David Stollery II.
After the program, a tour of
the facilities at the park will
be conducted.
The campground at Sugar Pine
Point State Park was first opened to the public last year, It
offers not only regular summer
camping, but winter camping as
well with heated restrooms and
plowed parking areas. There
are 175 campsites in the park,
each with a table and stove, and
with restrooms and hot showers
nearby.

Fathers were honored
throughout the county with
breakfasts, dinners and picnics
galore on Sunday. Maria and Len
Pearson of You Bet were among
those attending the annual Moose
Lodge #2217 picnic held at Lake
Baldwin. There was_ horseshoe-pitching and a rousing ballgame, Mr, and Mrs, S.F. Hardy
who live by the Cedar Ridge Post
Office, enjoyed the cool breeze
in Memorial Park and the fellowship of Pastor Witt and his family and all their friends from
Bethel Temple. Tommy Owens
did a bang-up job as chairman
for the annual Nevada City Bike
Races, Pat and Ray Seghezzy
had a barbecue at home. Anne
and Logan Knox and their children, Kevin and Heather, visited
his uncle Robert Knox over on .

There is a new "baby " in
Cedar Ridge at Sally Cooper's
house. Calico's "Junebug" was
born on June 9. Sally's
P.O.A, mare, "Walnut's Trinket,"" is the mother; 'Toyon Tigre"from Auburn is the sire,
On her trip south last weekend
Sally purchased a P,O.A. stallion, "Rex's Red Baron" from the
Blue Ribbon Ranch in Culver
City. She also bought "Chiricahua's Siri Miss," amare from
the. P,O.A, Ranch in Pomona;
and a filly, "Klein's Stardust"
from the sale in Pomona.

Everybody knows that cats
have nine lives, but what about
old fire-trucks? There is anew
life for the old Chicago Park
pumper, vintage 1943. The commission released the truck for
sale several months ago. Last
week Chief Carl Bauch and his
wife Jane delivered the pumper
to its new owner, Don Trotter,
who will use it for irrigating
fruit trees. Enroute they picked
up a Navy boy who was hitchhiking out MecCourtney Road.

Her home is nestled in the trees

After weltering through summers in Sacramento, when she

held their regular meeting Monday, starting with a morning
of sewing at 10:00 a.m. The
ladies are making lap robes for
Weimar and items for their bazaar, Chairmen for this activity are Lavon Neese, Lee Sovey and Betty Ramey. Dottie
Lane, who is a gourmet cook,
treated the girls to an Italian
lunch, During the meeting that
followed plans were made for the
salad bar lunchon held yesterday at the Fire Hall, They are

Cedar Ridge area Fred Lawrence,Bob and Bette Baumgart,
Stacey Walker, Laurie Butler
and Cynthia Moler are all doing
well. At the Folsom meet Saturday Bob Baumgart took three
firsts; Bette Baumgart five
firsts and Cynthia Moler four
firsts, The Penguins will swim
in a meet with Winters this Saturday, at 9:15 a.m, at Memorial
Park Pool.

The Nevada County AirPark
was doing a land-office business
this week. Saturday, 80 pilots
and their families flew in for
a conference at Northstar Center. Sunday, two Forestry tankers the "borate bombers" as
they are called, and two other
air-craft were flying in and out
of the field fighting the forest
fire in Brown's Valley.

a Swiss Team Bridge Tournament held in Sacramento last

Lorene Grassick, leader of
Girl Scout Troop #38 has 12
new girls. During the summer
the troop will meet on Wednesday morning at the Scout House
in the Memorial Park, The girls
are having success with their recycling project. They are collecting glass and aluminum.

House Wednesday mornings,
Lisa Niver and Jill Harner of
Cedar Ridge helped smash cans
and sort glass. The group is
planning a camping trip to Emerald Bay the last week in June.
The senior scouts of Troop #612,

The Chicago Park Garden Club
has a booth every year in the
horticulture building at the Fair,
Anne Fields says this year's
theme will be "Cool is the
Garden." The ladies are planning the arrangement of their
plot at the new wing of General
Hospital to coordinate it with
the plots of the other garden
clubs. Millie Mills will be the
hostess for a potluck luncheon
in her garden the first Wednesday in July.

Mrs. Clifford Davis and her
daughter, the new owner of Blueberry Hill, will be visiting the
Dittls this weekend to see how
the crop goes. Mrs. Clifford
says she is "chomping at the
bit to get out of Southern California."

A. Steber, M.D., of Grass Valley has been elected to active
membership in the American
Academy of Family Physicians,
a national association of more
than 31,000 family doctors,
The academy formerly was call. ed the American Academy of
General Practice.
As a member of AAFP, Dr,
Steber will be required to complete 150 hours of continuing
medical study every three years,
The program, unique among national medical associations, is
designed to help member phySicians keep abreast of the latest scientific developments in
medicine,
Founded in 1947, the AAFP
is the country's second largest
national medical association. It
was instrumental in the establishment of a new primary specialty in family practice in 1969,

bids opened
SACRAMENTO — The Caiifornia Division of Highways has
opened bids on the following
project:
Nevada County: Widening a
Route 20 curve about a mile
west of the community of Rough
and Ready, The curved roadway
is presently 22 feet wide with
a steep drop off on its west
side. The roadway will be widened. to provide for two 12‘foot lanes, Five bids received.
