FS ii Rebekahs honor Sybil Ridinger Sybil Ridinger of Esther Rebekah Lodge No. 9 was presented with a past district deputy president's jewel at the June 14 meeting of the lodge held in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Hall in Grass Valley. Mrs. Ridinger was escorted to a place of honor by Conductor Marie Wasley, where the presentation was made by her husband, Warren Ridinger; An old favorite "Song at Twilight" was rendered by Ada Arthur as a tribute to Mrs. Ridinger. District Deputy Grand Master James Arnold was welcomed and escorted to a seat of honor. Initiation of a candidate will be held at 8 p.m., June 28, in the lodge hall. The noble grand asks that all officers wear white formals, All members are urged to attend, Julia Davis, district deputy president of District 21, will make her first official visit on July 26 to Esther Rebekah. Mrs. Davis is a member of the Truckee Rebekah Lodge. Most interesting and informative reports were made by the delegates who attended the Assembly held in Bakersfield during May. Sybil Ridinger, Gladys Clemo, Emily Hodgkin and Marie Wasley were the delegates. Appointments made during the Assembly-for those in Executive board of CowBelles holds luncheon At a luncheon meeting of the executive committee of the Placer-Nevada County CowBelles held at the ranch home of Vera Hawkins the Scholarship committee reported Sierra College students Barbara Davis of Newcastle had been awarded a special Home Economics award, Rochelle Thomas of Colfax had received the annual Dixie M. Meredith Home Economics Scholarship, and Mary Van Vleck of Plymouth was the re-cipient of the Agriculture Scholarship. Each year the scholarships are awarded to first year students who will continue their education at Sierra College. A committee including Lois Cavitt, Jean Davis, Cevera Ingraham and Frances Coefield was appointed to set up a slate of rules governing the awarding of future scholarships, In accordance with their-beef promotion policy the club were to award a beef certificate to the fathers of the first baby born in the county on Father's Day in both Placer and Nevada counties. ‘ A donation for an award to FFA livestock exhibits at the Placer County Fair and the Auburn District Fair will be made this year. Nevada County Fair have used their donation in the past for trophies, The local CowBelles will enter booths at both the Placer County Fair in July and the Auburn District Fair in September as well as again having their exhibit booth in the Red Barn at the Nevada County Fair. There will be a meeting of the directors of the California CowBelles Association at the Sacramento Inn on August 5, to

Miss Wilcox, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wilcox of 120 Silva Ave., Nevada City, receives a Lakenan scholarship. She is a former graduate of Nevada Union High School. The other three students are from Grass Valley. Marie Anne Jobling, a sophomore with an undeclared major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jobling of 14 Vista Ave. ‘Miss Jobling also receives a Lakenan scholarship and is a graduate of Nevada Union High School. Mary Kathryn Baker, a senior psychology major, has received a Harriet Hauber scholarship. Miss Baker is also a graduate of Nevada Union High School and has attended Sierra Junior College. She is the daughter «1 Mr, and Mrs. Mervin Baker of Rt. 1 Box 575, of Grass Valley. Stephen F. Tassone, a junior psychology major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Tassone of 310 S.
