KIND KID (Peter Stack) is about to deposit the "majic ring"
into the hands of Harriet Hag (Mary Ann McGrath), Kind Kid
is unsuspecting of the magical powers that will be wrought
by Harriet Hag once she gains possession of the ring in the
"Secret of the Majic Ring." “a
"INTO THE DUNGEON with you!" cries Witch Hazel (Ruth
Berliner), right, as she drags Wretched Gretchen, the poor
servant girl (Colleen McGrath) to a dismal fate, Kind Kid
(Peter Stack) watches in horror from behind a tree.

COMING INTO possession of the "majic ring’ Kind Kid puts
fear into the stony heart of Witch Hazel (Ruth Berliner) during
the exciting performance of "Secret of the Majic Ring."
ARGUING BETWEEN themselves, Hideous Hedabella (Judith
Berliner) and Hateful Henry (Garret Stack) are unaware that
Harriet Hag (Mary Ann McGrath) hears all. Performances
of “Secret of the Majic Ring" will be presented at 2 p.m. and
7 p.m., Thursday and Saturday. ~

The newly formed "Children's
Theater Players" has scheduled
the play "Secret of the Magic
Ring" for children at the Old
Nevada Theater next Thursday
and Saturday, June 26 and 28,
There will be matinees both
days at 2 p.m. The evening
performances will be at 7 p.m.
The two-act fantasy . was
written by the players and will
thrill the children in the best
Grimms’ Brothers _ fashion,
Witches, robbers and magical
powers will draw the children
deep into the forest along with
the actors for an unforgettable
experience in the world of makebelieve.
An. innovation in local theatrical productions will be the
musical accompaniment of a
"magic" guitar, played by John
Griffin, leader of the local
"Silver Fox" group.
The cast of characters will
include: Colleen McGrath as
Wretched Gretchen and Gracious
Gretchen; Peter Stack, Kind Kid
and Prince Peter; Ruth Berliner, Witch Hazel; Mary Ann
McGrath, Harriet Hag and Queen
of Quedella; Judith Berliner,
Hideous Hedabella; Garret
Stack, Hateful Henry; Sharon
McGrath, Dork Imp; and Shannon
McGrath, Gork Imp.
The play is‘being presented
for the benefit of the Nevada
City Little League. Admission
for children from one to 101
will be 75 cents and will entitle the donor to one “Queen
Contest: ticket-on the Yearling
Welsh pony to~be given away
by NCLL on June 30, admission
to the play, and free refreshments during intermission,
Sally McGrath, princess for
the Nevada City Little League
Yankees' team, will be on hand
for a guest performance.

Carey S. Bliss, curator of
rare books at the Huntington
Library in Pasadena, will be in
Grass Valley and Nevada City
for a_brief visit this coming
week, On the evening of June
26 he is to be the guest of the
Board of Directors of the Nevada County Historical Society.
In addition, during his’ visit,
Bliss hopes to meet with others
interested in the mining history.
