County okays change Blood bank.”
in advertising code
County supervisors Tuesday
followed planning commission
and department ~ recommendations on one matter and
took a reverse action on
another.
They approved a recommended change in the land use
code which will allow
businesses with on-site advertising, not visible to
motorists, to construct
directional signs. Such signs
shall be subject to approval of
the planning department.
Some of the criteria for
approval includes regulation
of size, colors, recognized
logos and that all information
be of a directional nature’ as
opposed to advertising.
The signs shall be placed
only on private property and
will not be. allowed within
county or state highways
rights of ways.
The California Department
of Transportation, according
to Planning Director Sharon
Boivin, has indicated permits
will be required from their
outdoor advertising section
before signs can be located
adjacent to a state highway.
The state department further
indicated permits probably
will be approved for State
Highways 174 and 267 and be
denied for others within the
county.
Harlin Enderlin was_ successful in his appeal to the
board concerning the planning
commission’s denial of a site
plan for him to locate a 1958
mobilehome on his 40 acres on
Montezuma Lane, west of
Purdon Road.
Mrs. Boivin recommended
upholding the planning
commission’s denial based on
a 1972 board of supervisor
policy statement. The board,
at that time, went on record
that policy shall be to set a five
year age limitations for the
minimum _ standard for
mobilehomes_ within the
county.
“Legally my department
oe not approve the site plan
account of the age of the
mobilehome,’’ Mrs. Boivin.
said of her department’s
denial of the site plan, which
was upheld by the planning
commission. .
Favoring the proposal were
Enderlin and hi: neighbor,
Calvin Milhous.

prove that he had paid $2,000 to
upgrade his mobilehome. He
said he plans to build but the
present money situation keeps
-him from predicting when.

at the Empire Mine approved

Works Board.
The money will supplement
the recent purchase of 770acres of mine property which

Neighbors, he said, have no
objections and had it not been
a work day for most people
they would have, been present
to speak for themselves.
Milhous contended that
along Shady Creek. He asked
that Enderlin be allowed to put
the home on his “own 40
acres.”Board approval for the site
plan was based on the amount
of money spent to upgrade it to
offset its age.

It only takes an inside temperature of 78° to feel pleasantly cool and

down to 75° or lower increases energy

A practical way to keep cool inside
is by keeping heat outside. Check

Hang your light-colored
