I HAVE come to the conclusion that we are becoming a nation of splay footed people. Thongs have invaded our everyday life until about 9 out-of 10 people are sporting themin one way or another. How in the world did we ever get along without them? They go dancing in one form or another..they go to the beach..the smallest of children wear them, and the biggest of men..they are worn on the street..they come in plastic, rubber, leather..and heaven only knows what all..and they come in handy when your feet swell and you can't get into dress shoes..hailtothe .49 to $10.00 idea of footwear. PEOPLE IN GENERAL..John Taft, the County School psychologist has returned towork..still wearing a cast on his foot ..but if everything goes well he will be about sans cast and driving his car again. Doug Anderson, KAHI newsgather, advertising manager, and announcer for Grass Valley-Nevada City is now out of Sierra but is in a cast..all caused by a rear-ender over Hills Flat way.. Dick Worth and his lovely wife, Jean, are back from their vacation which took them to the south, by plane and by boat they went to Louisiana and down the Carribean.. The Ralph Freidrick's of Zion Street now have as their house guest, Carol's mother Mrs. Marjorie Anderson of Marysville. WE WENT tothe Music Circus in Sac. ramento the other night and saw Pajama Game..itwas lots of fun, but if you are going, remember that the stage is round andinthe center of the tent, and that the actors and actresses must play to all the sides of the stage..which incidentally can throw you foraloss until you get used to the idea..also the chairs sit on dirt, and after a few good trompings around, you are sitting in the dust..therefore, ‘don't get too carried away and dress like you were going to the opera, because you will look more out of place than if you wore a swimming suit to the Governor's Ball..I talked to Kathleen Freeman, who Iam sure that youremember as playing the maid on" Mayor of the Town", and who has appeared on Buckskin and other favorite TV shows..she has peeled off so much weight, that she looks like a different . person..andshe is absolutely terrific.. a more effervescent person I have never seen..and loaded with charm and personality. She told me she hopes to return toplay in "Redhead" and wants the part of . one of the aunts..don't miss these productions..they are lots of fun and good watching and listening. RUMOR HAS IT that some of our local . merchants were not giggling along with the North San Juan citizens..seems as ifthe twonewresidents of N. SJ purchased quite a bit of furniture from some of our businessmen..paid the down payment, had the stuff delivered to their "house" and then were hauled off to the bastile.. Took quite a bit of doing and a trip to the upper..but our menwere not to be undone ..theyretrieved the ill made purchases and are now poorer but wiser..Attention ++eKnow your purchaser..huh? SPEAKING of knowing your purchaser.. we all stick our necks out..it could be we got took too on a deal..
