Historic building gets fac
A HISTORIC building in Grass Valley will soon wear its
outer coat of red brick and look asit did when it was built over
a century ago. The two story building, once the home of The
Union, stands at the southwest corner of Mill and-West Main
County map okaye
but it takes time
The issue of mobile homes has
once again been kicked around by
county officials before approving
county map 2313 at this week's
meetings,
The map was sent back to the
planning commission by the supervisors further study and returned to this week's meeting of
the supervisors, With the exception of one case, the planning
commission went along with the
supervisors' recommendations,
Map 2313 covers 2,200 acres
west of Grass Valley in the area
east and west of Old Auburn
Road,
Supervisors sent the map back
to the planning commission to
review three specific areas,
The zoning in the far northerly section which was R1-MH,
one family residential mobile
home,
R-2-MH, (two family mobile
home) the Patino Mobile Home
park, Supervisors and the commission changed this zoning to
RA-5, An existing use permit
for a mobile home has not been
exercised and expires in November, The new zoning means
that the use permit will be considered non-conforming use ifit
is not exercised,
The third area was on Highway 49, an RA-2 zoning which
the supervisors wanted changed
to RA-5, RA --2 is” residential agriculture on two-acre
minimums, There was little discussion on this parcel andit was
‘approved, The zoning was split
between RA-2 and RA-5,”—
Supervisor Chairman . Dean
Lawrence was present at Monday's meeting of the planning
commission, She told the commission the map was sent back
because "I think too many mobile
homes are being allowed,"" She
advocated letting use permits
expire and not perpetuating such
uses,
The planning commission approved the recommended changes to map 2313, with the exception of the northérly section,
where there are persons living in
mobile homes, The commission
left the area R1-MH,
Commissioners BobCaris and
Car] Early voted no,
Before map 2313 received approval of the supervisors Tuesday, Mrs, Lawrence madea motion against: accepting the map,
wanting a change in the zoning
of the northerly section to RA,
Supervisor Larry Filer said
this ‘would be extremely unfair." Filer pointed out this zoning would not allow the mobile
home owners to Sell the property
and their home sites. Mobilehomes are established in the
area,
Mrs, Lawrence pointed out
under the right zoning persons
living in mobile homes may violate their use permits and they
can be moved out, She was also
concerned with the Johnson
property which she said "is
overloaded with mobile homes.
Johnson is in the mobile home
business,"
