New law provides for
Legislation to provide overnight hostel facilities at State
“Parks, together with park-topark trail links, was signed into
law recently by Governor
Ronald Reagan.
The bill was authored by
Senator Randolph Collier of
Siskiyou County and Assemblyman Barry Keene of Eureka,
with a number of co-authors.
Former Senator Robert
Lagomarsino of Ventura was
given special praise by Senator
Collier as one of the original coof the bill.
The proposal, Senate Bill 420,
provides $2 million for
acquisition and development of,
the trails. and hostel facilities.
Additional funds for the
ram are also estimated
from the 1974 State Park Bond
Act, which will be Proposition 1
on the June ballot.
The bill directs the State
Parks Department to develop
sleeping facilities for the State’s
growing number of “knapsack”:
