to go," Jones said.
Nelson said all the operators had followed illegal cutting and logging practices
and failedto fall snags. All

minimum soil erosion requirements.
One of the firms failed to
put in waterbreaks to divert
runoffs on several steep skid
trails with the result that
gullies sixto eight feet deep
were formed which dumped
considerable dirt and debris
into the streams.

SACRAMENTO--The Astutional amendment, authored by Assemblyman Paul
J. Lunardi, which would prevent tax increases from presuring the farmer to sell his
land for subdivisions.
The vote, almost unanimously in favor,. sends the
measure to the Senate Committee on Revenue and Taxation.
Lunardi explained that the
problem liesin farmland locatednearcities being
assessed and taxed as potential subdivision land. The
farmer is forced to sell his
land because he does not
make enough from crops to
pay the taxes,
Under the Lunardi proposed
its value.as crop growing land
instead of potential subdivision property. .
County boards of supervisors would adopt ordinances
making the law effective in
their respective counties, under provisions of the measure.
Should the farmer sell his
property for subdivision land
while enjoying the benefits .
of farmland assessment, he
would have to pay back taxes,
under the amendment.
Assemblyman Lunardi said
he plansto introduce a resolution asking for an interim
study of the mechanics of
carrying out the proposed
plan. ©
