Brown said:

receive training from various
academies established and approved by the State of California.,:
Along with this, we were instrumental in getting Sierra College:
to establish a night course in
law enforcement at the high
school, and several members of
the staff are participating with
an aim of getting an associate
of arts degree in law enforcement."Hf re-elected, I plan.to continue thodernizing the department in an attempt to give the
people of Nevada county the best
law. enforcement possible for
their tax dollars.".
Brown moved to Nevada county
when his father bought a ranch
in Penn Valley. in 1928, He
attended the seventh and eighth
grades: at the old Indian Springs
Grammar School there, then attended and graduated from Grass
Valley High, Brown attended the
University of Texas for. a time
on a football scholarship. He
was at Pearl Harbor.as a civilian. employe with the Navy when
the Japanese attacked Bec, 7,
1941, Brown served in the Army
during World War II, then wasin
the oil business in Grass Valley
before being elected sheriff.
Brown isthe current president
of the California Sheriff's Association and will represent the organization ‘at the national convention in Hot Springs, Ark. this
fall,
