Fire season opens April 1 —
e
Although fire season will_not
be officially open for several
weeks, unusual weather
conditions have contributed to
an increased wildfire danger.
According to Ranger-incharge, Jack Odgers, the
California Division of Forestry
responded to several local fires
caused by escaped debris burns
during January and February.
Four of these took place in just
one day during the Spring-like
weather of last week.
Ranger Odgers requests all
residents to use _ caution
whenever they do any burning
even though burn permits are
not required until April ist.
Check weather conditions. Wind
can make any fire dangerous
and sudden changes are common at this time of year. When burning debris, an ablebodied adult should be in
attendance with tools and water
until the fire is completely out.
Also, adequate clearance should
be maintained to keep the fire
from spreading into nearby
grass and brush.
Anyone planning to-burn-_large
piles of debris or brush should
call the CDF before burning
since these fires often cause
alarming amounts of smoke. It
is. permissible to burn
incinerators and small piles of
leaves without a phone call.
Burning may be done at any
time of day until April 1st, but
check with the Air Pollution
Control District to be sure it is a
permissible burn day.
