3 3 .Nevada County Nugg March 18, 1965.. Health Department Cites Two Local Water Systems The California Department of Public Health last week issued a report recommending that a permit be denied for the Nevada Irrigation District's water system at Mayflower Estates subdivision on Banner Mountain. The report issued by the state Bureau of Sanitary Engineers on the NID's per application for a permit for the system, found that thesystem, “with existing treatment facilities, cannot meet the U.S. Public Health Service drinking water standards during the winter months, Coliform organisms have been present in the treated water. Turbidity in the treated water is at times in excess of recommended limits. Safeguards to the system are virtually non-existent, with only single -c horination and open treate-water storage. © The report recommended that a permit be denied to the district to operate the domestic system serving Mayflower Estates subSierra College Trustees Have Full April Agenda Sierra College trustees will have a busy April 13 meeting, President Robert Ross indicated at the close of last week's session. Scheduled for action is a look at the preliminary budget, conference with the instructors’ salary committee, routine business and an official board meeting with representatives of the Placer County Association of Insurance Agents, who will dine with trustees after presenting a gift of trees to the college.
