San Juan Gold Begins Quiet Title Suit At North Bloomfield San Juan Gold Company is in the process of a quiet title suit to ‘clear title on some 2300-2400 acres in the North BloomfieldLake City area, it was revealed this week. Although the quiet title suit coincides with efforts of the California Division of Beaches and Parks plans to acquire property for Malakoff State Park, the action by SanJuan Gold Company is not aresult of Beaches and Parks activity, itwas explained this week by attorney Harold W olters who Tepresents the firm in this area. Wolters explained that the quiet title suit includes all San Juan Gold property in that particular area, and that only a portion of it is under consideration by the state for inclusion in the park. The suit is the result of nearly three years of preparation by San Juan Gold Company leading to clearing of title to company land in advance of sale of much of the: land. Wolters said portions of the property hasbeen under development as tree farms and the firm neededclear title in order to ef-fectively control its tree farm operation. He said the company had one area which was logged by an outsider at one time and the firm didnot realize the loss of income until the statute of limitations ran out. With clear title, Wolters said, San Juan Gold Company will be abletocontinue more efficiently its tree farm operation, and will be able to sell portions of its holdings. Several offers for purchase of San Juan Gold land have been under consideration, Wolters said. He indicated that potential purchasers were not bidding against the state for Malakoff State Park property, but were seeking other sites owned by the firm. The attorney said the company also had holdings in the North Columbia area, but that title to these holdings were “clear” in the eyes of title companies. The current quiet title suit would clear title to all “clouded” San Juan Gold ownership. Wolters said there are several people in the North Bloomfield area squatting on land owned by the company. Notice of the quiet title suit will be published next week, he said. Ithad been understood that the California Division of Beaches and Parks had expected to purchase San Juan Gold Portions of Malakoff State Park through a friendly condemnation suit in order to effectively clear title there. The current title suit may make possible negotiated purchase of the property without a condemnation suit. .
