the remnants of scores of lesser

old coach stations and hotels

to gold mining days, nearly all
un-marked, nearly all torn down
and ravished during recent decades by junk dealers, the elements, and modern-day prospectors who burnt up the old
timbers and then panned the ashes for gold dust that had been
spilled on the floor during days
when it was the main medium
of exchange.
"Despite the fact that most of
our roads, streams, valleys,

The association recommends
that 50 per cent of the county's

is felt that tourists who come
to Nevada County to study, enjoy,
and photograph its historical
and scenic features, to study
and collect minerals, or whose
hobbies lie in the field of antique collecting, victorian architecture, or art, spend time
in the county as do sports enthusiasts, and leave just as
much or more of their money
in the country.”
