Project International, which
started in 1944 with a boatload of

the guest speaker for the
Nevada City Rotarians meeting.
The Rev. Dr. Dillon W.

the heifer and her calf. The
project began with bred heifers,
but later other food-producing
animals, including goats, sheep,
pigs, rabbits, bees and chickens

Distribution of these «animals

Larry Parsons of the Nevada
City Fire Department asked
that the rural fire number be
given publicity because two
fires in rural areas were
reported to the Nevada City Fire
Department Tuesday. Although
Parsons acted rapidly +to
dispatch the proper fire
departments to the scenes
delays were involved.
Knowing ‘the correct number
to call could mean the difference
of a small fire or one which
totals your home or business,
Parsons said.
Fires Tuesday were in the 49er
and Alta-Oaks-Sunset Districts. ;
The 49er responded to a smoke
filled house on Highway 49
across from The Willo. The
cause was a hot chimney and no
damage was reported.
‘The Alta-Oaks-Sunset
volunteers went to 106 Dolores
Drive where reportedly a
curtain caught fire and damage
was mostly to the curtain and
rug.
