Is Scheduled
The Grass Valley Jaycettes annual spring fashion show will be
presented at 8 p.m. Friday,
April 1 in the Grass Valley Elks
Hall.
The theme of this llth annual
preview “Campaign of Colors”
was selected becaiise of the election year. Funds raised by the
event will go to the Chris Jenkins Memorial Scholarship and
will also help purchase band instruments for Nevada Union High
School. ‘
Bobbie Smith is chairman of the
show with Mary Fiscus as cochairman,
members include Carol Slattery,
Laurene Duffy, Marlene Fowler,
Judy Trankle, Vicki Gregory,
Ruth Harding, Ann Dorris, Gabby
Burrow, Gerry Cassulo, Marge
Moore and Bonnie Marin.
Sonny Larson, president of the
Grass Valley Jaycees, will serve
as master of ceremonies and Bea
Bennett will be the fashion commentator,
Local models, both children
and adults, will be used in the
show. Participating merchants
are The Unique, Louise's, Alice's
Style Shop, Pengelly's. Collier's.
Tess’, Conways, M’Lady'‘s, Bon
Allure, Stork Shop, Novak's,
Bennetts and Steel and Vic
Breuer's.
Tickets may be purchased from
any Jaycette and will also be
available at the door.

“Help!”
This was the one word Mrs,
Lura Amold of Nevada City could
utter this week in regard to her
new job as women's page reporter for the Nugget.
Mrs, Arnold, a resident of Nile
Street, anda member of the Nugget staff in a variety of capacities since 1960, starts this week
in the job of pulling together an
interesting, bright and readable
page of women news about and
of interest to women in the area.
“I need the help of the women’
inthearea, “Mrs. Arnold said in
describing the new page in the
Women
Nugget. “We want to have the
news of events and happenings in
and around this area of interest to
our readers, but the readers are
the oneswho will have to help us
in the beginning to gather that
news. We will print the items,
but we have to know about them
first. That is where the help
comes in,“
Residents with social news, club
notes, news of events coming up
in. the future or reports on club
meetings or past social events are

Club Elected Officers Recently
Grass Valley's Betty Boss has
been elected president of the
Sierra College Home Economics
club, Phi Eta Epsilon, Adviser
Pauliene Bond announced today.
Others elected include Vice
President Marion Eidson of
Placerville, Secretary Sally
Nakasahiji of Loomis and Treasurer Delores Stahl of Rocklin.
Marsha Blake of Auburn will
be chairman of the Career Night
program which will host-high
school coeds from Placer and
Nevada counties this spring.
Monica Hecker of Roseville
will attend the state home economics convention at Hotel El
Dorado, in April.
"Giant Weekend”’ Is Sponsored
By Sierra Memorial Auxiliary
The Auxiliary of Sierra Nevada
Memorial Hospital is again sponsoring its popular “Giant Weekend" for June 10 and 11.
Holder of the winning ticket
will receive an all expense. paid
weekend in San Francisco, The
trip will include two nights at
the Hotel St. Francis, tickets for
the June 1] Giants -Dodger afternoon game, dinner at Trader Vic's
and cash for meals, tips and
transportation,
Drawing for the event will take
place at the hospital on April 20.
A patient at the hospital will select the winning number.
Funds derived from this ways
and means endeavor will go for
the construction of a solarium to
be added to the north wing of the
hospital,
This room will be for the use of
ambulatory and convalescent patients as well as those relatives of
patients who are in need of privacy.
Afternoon visitors to the hospital may obtain tickets from the
“Pink Lady” on duty in the lobby.
Tickets.will also be available at
both Alpha Stores and Novacks in
Nevada City.
Pink Ladies will conduct sales
Saturday from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
in front of the SPD store in Nevada City and the Safeway Store
in Grass Valley during the same
hours,

Dr. and Mrs. John Mott Rector
of Nevada City will sail from
San Francisco Thursday aboard
the Matson Lines SS Monterey for
a tour of the South Pacific.
Ports of call during the 42-day
cruise, include Bora Bora, Papeete, Rarotonga, Auckland,
Sydney, Noumea, Suva ;
Niuafo'ou, Page Pago and Honolulu.
