DAVIS---The Madrigal
Singers of the University of
California, Riverside, will
present a concert of Renaissance vocal music on the
U.C,, Davis campus, Suaday.
‘The concert, to be held
in the Memorial Union Assembly Hall at 8:15 p.m.,
will make the second appearance here of this singing
group.
The UCR Madrigal Singers
are a group of fourteen singers chosen from the 70 -voice
University Choir on the basis
of their musicianship and
vocal ability. Their music
is primarily drawn from the
secular vocal chamber music
of the Renaissance although,
on this occasion, a longer
sacred work,
Passa", by Ludovico Da Viadand will be featured.
Also on the program will
be lute songs and madrigals
of England by Thomas Morley, Martin Peerson John
Wilbye, John Dowland, John
Bartlet, and Thomas Ford.
Music of France, Germany,
Italy, and Spain, including
works by Guillaume Costeley, Jacquesde Wert, Heinrich Schuetz, Orlando di
Lasso, GiovanniGastoldi,
and Tomas Luis de Victoria
