An override tax boost of 50
cents per $100 assessed valuation will be sought March 22 in
an election to be held by the
Ready Springs Union Elementary
School District. The boost would
increase the tax beyond the state
legal limit of 80 cents to $1.30.
The -additional money, if the
measure is approved by the district’s 650 registered voters,
‘would amount to only about $3,500 a year. It is sorely needed,
said John Oakie, board president,
to defray the recent boost in salaries of the school’s three teachers and the rising costs of building and equipment maintenance.
Voting will be in the school
plant, built three years ago in
Penn Valley, west of Grass Valley. The district was formed six
years ago from the old Iidian
