ner Saturday evening at the historic National Hotel's Victorian
Room.
California will be represented
at the dedication by State Senator
Paul J. Lunardi. However, Lun
ardi will be unable to stay for the
dinner.
Rumors are that with no California representatives
at the din=
ner, Officials of the State of Nev
ada may make their move to annex Nevada County at that time.
Because of the Stewart mansion
and Ott's Assay Office, Nevada
officials have a special interest
in Nevada City during this year
of the Nevada Centennial.
Stewart left Nevada City to
become a prime factor in the formation of the State of Nevada,
probably being instrumental in
the naming of that state after his
former resident -town and county,
He also became the state's first
U.S. Senator.
Study City
‘Library Plan
Nevada County Supervisors Neil
Hennessy and Tabe Bishop will
study a suggestion of the Nevada
City Council that the county participate in the operation of the
city library.
The suggestion was made last
month by the city council after
Councilman Arch McPherson
noted that the county had dropped
consideration of a county library.
McPherson observed that the
city library couldbe made available to all county residents, and
suggested that the supervisors be
asked to contribute $2500 annually for purchase of additional
books.
