ateatsatetara AT HOME IN THE COUNTRY ¢iotefiatiatie #2 Antique Dealers To Exhibit Nearly a dozen Nevada County antique dealers will participate in the Fourth Annual Antique Show and:Sale Friday through Sunday in the Main Exhibit Building of the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds on Franklin Ave. in Yuba City. The hours will be from noon until 9 p. m. on Friday and Saturday and from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday. Twenty-five dealers will participate. Everything from rare primitives to the mgst elegant jewelry and silver will be on display and for sale, There will be a selection of marble top furniture and old mellow pine. Buggy seats, spinning wheels, footstools, hanging lamps and many other types of antiques including glass and dishes, coins, rare old books and prints, beer trays and bottles will be included in the dealers’ booths. Throughout the show and sale, Sven Skaar, curator of the National Hotel 49er Museum in Nevada City, will exhibit for the first time his primitive California Indian collection. One of the most exciting in his collection is an Indian Death Mask estimated to be over 2000 years old. On Sunday only, a collection of Civil War Arms, equipment, photographs, saddles, battle flags fromthe collection of Mr. Stanley Andrus and Robert McKee will be on display. This collection is “quarian" in Hamburg. Treasures considered one of the best west of the Mississippi and has taken over 30 years to assemble. Each item will be identified and McKee and Andrus have presented their exhibit at the Sacramento State Fair and in the California State Capitol besides at many other civic functions, A "What isit booth" staffed by qualified personnel will be available to assist guests in identifying antiques and relicsthat may have been uncovered during spring house cleaning. A nursery tended by Yuba Sutter Junior high Camp Fire Girls under adult supervision will provide baby sitting for small children, Antique automobiles will be on parade in the Marysville-Yuba City area a week prior to the antique show. Lunch and dinner, as well as snacks, willbe served throughout the event. Free parking will be provided in the parking lot but entry will be by donation to the sponsoring Mary Aaron Museum. Mrs, Iris Berger of Hamburg, Germany, who is visiting her daughter Elinor Malin of Applegate, will identify European antiques, Mrs. Berger is an “antiShe married into a family of publishers in Ger many and has beeg w orking as.an art dealer,-}specializing in etching and wood. The meeting, held at the home
of Mrs. RobertH. Chesney, heard a report on music by Mrs, Stirling Snow, chapter music chairman. In addition, Mrs. George Burns gave a rendition of some of the historic songs and hymns, accompanied on the piano by Mrs, Snow. The program chairm anreviewedthe current book, "America's Musical Heritage" by BurkMeierhoffer-Phillips. The first recorded American music wastraced from Williamsburg and the days of the Pilgrims when "Old Hundred" and "The Thanksgiving Hy mn" were the main music. Music in the New England: states was entirely religious in nature, while that of the Southern States was folk in nature and entertaining.
