refunds mailed State income tax refunds totaling over $3.7-million were mailed to 50,569 taxpayers during the month of January and that’s ‘only the beginning,”’ according to State Controller Ken Cory. With eight-million returns to be filed and over five-million taxpayers expected to qualify for refunds, the January totals are only the beginning of the “flood” of returns and refunds which should peak sometime between Feb. 24 and the April 15 filing deadline. However, taxpayers still can speed up their refunds by filing their returns as early as possible. Refunds made during January” averaged slightly over $73 each as compared to an average of $116 last year when all taxpayers received a one-time special tax credit which does not apply this year. Cory said his office is prepared to issue a refund within two days after the Franchise Tax Board completes processing of a return. They are geared to about 71,000 returns a day at full flow. .: the little fellows with the big pulling power. Wed., March 5,1975 The Nevada County Nugget 7 CLASSIFIED ADS 10.
