This meeting on February 25, we continued with our blouses. Present, were: Cathy Angove, Larraine Karniss, and Jerri Davis Reporter: Jerri Davis WOODCHUCKERS Woodchuckers have started to plan for D Day. D Day is known as Demonstration Day which is to be heldthis year April8. Three eaten shane were presen3 ted by the Forestry II project members, which has Mr. Matson as leader, FIRE! Tommy Heather demonstrated “pléase don't wound me, At our next meeting many demonstrations will be given so that every member will have an opportunity to demonstrate before the big day. ~ A point of much interest was the presentation of the skit for fun night by Chairman Johnny Johnson and leader, Mr. James Sloan. Here every member wasgivena partinthe skit and informed of the practic® peritas ard a to make for the fg amped OS Booth chairman Tommy Heather reported that the booth plans were shaping up. Everyone expressed enthusiasm for the poster contest and it looks that we might have much competion in the poster contest as well as in the sale of the tickets. The members expressed appreciation for the movie party with delicious refreshments served bythe Spring Hill club, A vote of thanks SHE is to be sent to the Spring Hill members for the lovely party and appropriate mov ie “It Happens Every Spring.” ‘Reporter: Thomas Heather KENTUCKY FLAT Reports were made by Mike DeMartini on the electrical fieldday, by Tom Rackerby on the club's recent roller skating party held in. Marysville, by Ken Sorensen on the Valentine's Day 4-H ClubFarm Bureau turkey dinner, and by Marie Jackson on therecent club cake sale held in Grass Valley. The club voted to-have-e-*1e pitts g booth fdr 4-H Fun Night March II in the Veterian’s Memorial Building in Grass Valley. The booth committee consists of Willie Rickard, Shirley Personini, Sharon Ousley, Judy Pugh, Sharon Personini, Lyn DuChens and T.om Rackerby. « A committee was appointedtosetupa window display in Grass Valley during 4-H Club Week, March 4-ll. Members of the committee are Ken Sorensen, Bob Personini, and Mike DeMartini . We were reminded that County Demonstration Day is April 8 and _ that applications are due by March 31, Reporter: Tom Rackerby PEARDALE PINES ‘girls modeling well made clothes was the treat of the February meeting of Peardale Pines4-H Club. A modeling show was clothing — projects. Those participating were: Elaine Mattucks, Mona, Mildred and Jackie Roberts, Cathy and Carol Fusek, Diana Dittl, Kathy and CarolWishmeyer, and Linda McDonald. Helen Brown gave an interestingtalk "a model meeting” and announced the two clubs Peardale will meet with this year are Nevada City and Cedar Ridge. Mrs. Brown also gave information on the Fun Night poster and ticket contests. Orin Brown explained the booth Peardale Pines will have for Fun Night,
andthe prized to be given to winners of the game. Mr. and Mrs. Wyckoff as. sisted in handing out parts for the clubs skit, and also were in charge of the skit's practice. Various reports were given by club members, and the meeting was adjourned by President, Eddie Scofield and turned over tothe leaders for the practice of the skit. Reporter: Neil Wylie Jr. SPRING HILL lst FOODS YEAR Wetakled about how to fix oranges and we made a fruit salad. Lynn and Carole were there. We had fun. Reported; Kathy White NEVADA CITY Charles Weeks, Nevada County Civil Defense Director, introduced Mr. Bruce Bell, from Santa Rosa, at the Ist Nevada City 4-H meeting Saturday. Mr. Bell told things to do in case of an enemy attack also what can be done in advance to be prepared in case of fall out, Pictures wereshown and he explained the pictures and gave a very interesting talk. Mr. Weeks had literature on Fallout shelters, First aid, and many other items. These were passed out to the 4-H members and friends. Chicago Park, guest club, 4-H Week---Learning By Doing was introduced, Approximately 40 members and 14 © parents attended the meeting. The hall was gayly decorated in Valentins theme. The refreshment committee served punch, coffee and cup= cakes, Following committees were chosen: Window display for 4-H week: Diana Hopkins, chairman: Bill Helphinstine, Marshall Apple, Jim Snider and Melodie Nobles. Fun Night activities begin at 5:30 p.m. with booths operated by each of the 14 Nevada County clubs. The program is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., with further booth _ activity after the program is finished.
