Thanksgiving Day .was very pleasurably spent in our little town. The day was nice and sunshiny and different, people entertained their own folks and friends by having a nice, turkey dinner and everything that makes a dinner complete. Mr. Raymond VP. Hawkins, master and general merchant, tored to Nevada City for a few days. Mrs. Mery Meehan and Miss Sara Kellighan took their departure for the bay region for the winter. They were accompanied as far as Sacramento, by Art Mreu and John Raymond Green. Rayniond continued on to St. Mary's College at Moraga where he is a student. Edwin Godfrey was our town. Mr. Parker, Rereee of ‘The Speciality Shop’ in Grass Valley, was here for a few days with a complete line of suits, dresses etc, and Christmas novelties. FRENCH CORRAL FRENCH CORRAL, Dec. 7.-—Our weather continues clear and cold. with light frost at night. “Tuesday night was the coldest we have had. Influenza is quite prevalent in this section and a number of schooi students are unable to attend their classes. Several of the older set also are suffering from the malady. Charles Rickard and Chester Cook left for Oregon last Saturday. Mr. Rickard received a telegram stating that his mother was dangerously ill. Mr. and Mrs. Porter, late of Downieville, are new comers in French Corral. Allen Warren of Los Angeles was a last week visitor. He is interested in mining. Miss Eunice Reader returned to College City where she _ teaches! school, after spending Thanksgiving . with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. . Reader of Sweetland. J. Swazey made a trip to Nevada City Saturday to take J. Schiver to! consult a doctor. Mr. Schiver is suf. fering from an attack of poison oak.! L. Haslett and Mrs. A. Browninx' accompanied them on the trip. M. J. O'Connor of Birehville and sister, Miss Therese, and Mrs. Margaret Madden, had business in Nevada City and Grass Valley Saturday. Mr. and Mr. E. E. O’Connor, who has been visiting at the old home in Birehville, returned to Grass Valley Tuesday morning.
