S, Herrington was low bidder on reconstructing one-half mile of Pleasant Valley and building a 365-foot concrete box girder bridge over the South Yuba River near Bridgeport bridge, it was announced today. Herrington's bid of $387,287 for the work was low of six bids received by the state Department of Public Works. Inaddition to building the bridge the job calls for reinforcing a concrete box culvert at Kentucky Ravine and paving a 32foot wide two-lane roadway. Rosendin Electric of San Jose has the $44,044 contract to modify highway lighting systems in Nevada and other counties. Over 300 lighting standards will be equipped with "slip bases" designed to give way easily upon impact, some along Interstate 80 at Emigrant Gap and near Truckee.
