The apportionment was 25 per cent of the amount appropriated by the Legislature for the current fiscal year. The other 75 per cent was apportioned last. August. The total apportionment for the year was $88,036,624, The distribution was from thewas established by action of the 1967 Legislature as a depository for 1/14th of the revenues from the State bank and corpor* ation tax, The apportionment to the counties is the compliance witha schedule and formula prescribed by the 1968 Legislature. This is Armed Forces Week and in keeping with the tradition of visiting military bases the Nevada County Chamber of Commerce. sent several representatives to McClellan Air Force Base for a tour of the facilities last Thursday, ‘The day began with a luncheon withGeneral Fullilove, commanding general of McClellan and Colonels Rood and Dysart, The general thanked the group for coming to the base and regretted that he couldn't personally conduct the tour, The base was being inspected by the inspector general in the annual readiness inspection, Colonel Rood was -the tour guide accompanied by two members of the public information office. First on the agenda was a tour of the maintainance hangar where the F-111 is being modified, There were about 15 planes getting wing modifications and other changes, It was explained that the plane originally was to cost .about $15 million but be-. cause of structural problems and modifications necessary they now cost about $30 million each, The colonel explained how the wings work and the various combat capabilities the plane has, On the other side of the hangar modifications were being completed on several F-106s, These ‘planes are among the fastest . fighters in the world and carry an enormous pay load, From the hangars the group went to the cold test facility. This is one of only two facilities of its type in the country.
