19 Nevada City Little Leaguers Start Belting Them Over The Park Fence May 13, 1965...Nevada County Nugget. .-. The wind and cold have kept many spectators from coming out to see the Nevada City Little League action, but the few that do have been treated to some fine ball games. Each game the scorekeepers are . counting the adult heads and at the end of the season the team with the most spectators will be awarded a trophy. Eachteam has chosen a Princess this week and she will be at each game with her labeled Milk can and will pass among spectators some time during each game. Shecan collect only at her team games, and also around her neighborhood, Her Team can collect for her also, and any amount can be donated, The end of the season the Princess with the most one cent votes is crowned the Queen. Each girl is awarded a present for her diligence, and the Queen is given a wristwatch, To show that the Nevada City Little Leaguecan keep their eyes on more than a baseball here are the girls chosen to represent their teams, Major Teams: Braves, Dale Harries; Dodgers, Marci Cannon; Indians, Jane Pello; Yankees, Ruth Hudson, Minor Teams; Cards, Rosie Cirino; Cubs, Pam Creekmore, Dodgers, Debbie Paintéf; Giants, Cynthia Mooers; Phillies, Cathy Warriner; andTigers, Ann Wells, This week will start the ticket sales for our annual Little League Spectacular Breakfast, at the S. P. D. Parking Lot June 5th, A wonderful breakfast can be bought for only a50¢ ticket. The Little Leaguer selling the most tickets is awarded a prize. More information will follow about this event. Here is a rundown of Little League action last week. Tues. Apr. 4th, The Minor Dodgers got 15 runs and Keith Miller pitched the entire game for them. Their opposing team the Cubs hadS runs, Michael Dockery pitched the entire game and hit a homer for his team. Wed, Apr. 5. At Pioneer Park the Dodgers bested the Yankees 7-3, Atthe minor game, the Dodgers beat the Cards by a large margin, The Dodgers Guy Greever hit two home runs for his team. John Hillofthe Cards also hit a homer SPORTS Thurs. Apr. 6. Both the Major and Minor teams that lost last night bounced back in the victory . circle tonight. Yankees 15Indians 8 in the Major game. Kevin Jamison of the Yankees socked the ball over the fence. The Cards had 13 runs to the Tigers 8. John Hill and Mike Rothenberger voth hit home runs for the Cards, Fri. Apr. 7. The Major Dodgers had 8 tothe Braves 5 in the game at Pioneer park. Jackie Eddings of the Braves hit a homer. The Minor Tigers got 15 to the Phillies 3 atSeven Hills. Darrell W ebb and Ken Lesley hit home uns for the Tigers. California Boating Maps Available Six California boating facilities maps published by the state's Division of Small Craft Harbors last November and immediately snapped up by the boating public have been reprinted and are now available again without charge. The maps indicate launching, berthing and mooring facilities and such related marina services ascampgrounds, picnicking, dry boat storage and trailer parks. Division Chief Lachlan M. Richards said that while a few boating facilities may have been missed due to a lack of information, he believes the maps offer the most comprehensive statewide boating guide available. Any interested boater may obtain ‘dry ore or all six of the maps by writing to the Division of Small Craft Harbors, Resources Building, 9th and “O" Streets, Sacramento, California 95814. Old rt ? gal Time Only Slew Foot Sue Will Use All Five Legs In The Angels Camp Fete A five-legged frog found recently in-San Jose will be on exhibition at the Centennial celebration of the Jumping Frog Jubilee in Angels Camp May 20“We don't yet know whether or not the frog will participate in the jumping, " said the Mayor of Frogtown, Vrle T. Minto. The frog's name is Slew foot Sue, and she is thought to be half frog and half toad. "If she really is half toad,“ said the Mayor, “she may be barred from competition as toads are not permitted at the Frog Jump." Toads were permitted at theSouthern California Championship Frog Jump at Del Mar last month asa result of a court order banning discrimination against toads. Atthat time the Mayor of Frogtown made a statement in defense of the Angels Camp policy, “We have nothing against toads. Some of our best friends are toads.
