were up to Gold Lake for a practice run, They ran from Sardine

Peter Bachels, age 16, of Downieville, suffered a broken leg
in an accident Friday night, He was taken to Steres Nevada
Memorial Hospital,
A potlucksupper washeld at Goodyear's Bar last Saturday night,
This event was well attended by residents of Downieville, Sierra
City, Indian Valley and Goodyear's Bar. Old time music was
provided by the two Loffmark brothers, We also enjoyed some

the hospital, David finally reached the 5 lbs. required béfore hecould be released from the hospital, David is three weeks old,

Mrs, Elaine Stucki and daughter Diane traveled to San Francisco
for the week-end, They planned to visit Mrs, Stucki’s parents,

Mr, and Mrs, Frank W. Morland of Loomis, Mr. Morland had
planned on doing a little fishing on opening day, but the weather
had a hand in changing his mind, These conditions seemed to be
felt by almost all the fishermen that ventured to this area for the
same purpose, Of course, there were a few stout hearted men who
couldn't be discouraged, ,

High school students of Downieville High took a cultural tour of
the Bay Area, During their tour of the area, the group headquartered at the Golden State Hotel from which almost all of the
activity branched, A total of 32 high school students were on the
trip. Transportation was provided by the new school bus which
was driven by Frank Tabor, owner and driver of the bus, Each
student was left to his own ends and means of transportation,
which helped each child to learn a little about people on the run,
Some ofthe entertainment enjoyed by the students were a stage
play, "The Fantasticks”, the Cinerama which featured the movie
"Grand Prix", and ‘they also toured Fisherman's Wharf and
visited many ofthe attractions onthe Wharf, They also separated
