Camptonville has ‘a Pelton
Wheel Monument. located
across the street from the
U. S. Forest Service. The
monument was erected in
1928 by Gravel Range Masonic Lodge and was dedicated later in the same year
by the Grand Lodge of California with an impressive
ceremony.
The land. on which it is
located was owned by Judge
Cleveland, the plaque was
donated by the Allis-Chalmers’ Co. and the Miners
Foundry made and donated
the Pelton Wheels.

One of the most interesting .and arresting sights in the majestic
Parliament Buildings in Canada’s capital city of Ottawa, are the
stone carvings which cover the ceilings, archways and cornices of the
structure that houses the Peace Tower, Memorial Chamber and the
House of Commons and Senate. The press as well as the parliamentary
great of Canada are honored in the carvings. Here Grattan O’Leary,

the hank’s founder. A. P.
Giannini, on the 90th anniversarv of his brith.
In a brief observance Herbert Toudv. manager of the
Grass Vallev branch. introduced the hank’s president,
S. Clarke Beise. who spoke
to. the worldwide staff by
recordanig.
Beise, in his commemorative message,
the inchanging human values which Giannini stressed
‘in the banking practices he
inaugurated. These values
remain the basis for the organization’s philosophy despite changes brought about
by electronic data processing and other technological
advances, Béise concluded,

Giannini founded Bank of
America in San Francisco
in 1904. He died in 1949.
