Flag Raising (Ceremony In Auburn AUBURN ---A flag raising ceremony willbe held at the District Fair Grounds in Auburn, Sunday at 2 p.m. under the auspices of the Emigrant Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with the cooperation of Richard W. Townsend Post 84 of the American Legion of Auburn. The guest speaker of the event will be Mrs. Paul A. Roth, State Flag Chairman of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Those attendinf from Nevada City will be Mrs. Raphael J. Polk and Mrs. Stanley A. Sanders fromi the CaptainJohn Oldham Chapter of Nevada City. The public is cordially invited to attend the ceremony. A cotton shirt costs more to be laundered once than the farmer gets for the cotton. ‘WEEKS --in Charles Weeks. His bodf was found in his home May 20, 1963, when his office staff became alarmed at “his failure to appear for work. He apparently had been dead since sometime Saturday or Sunday. He had previous heart attacks and had attached the oxygen mask but had not succeeded . in obtaining sufficient treatment. Hewasthe brother of Arthur Weeks of New Hampshire. He was a native of New Hampshire aged 51 years. Hewas the civil defense coordinator of Nevada County and commander of a Veterans of Foreign War Post and a former American Legion postcommander. Funeral services were held in Hooper Weaver Mortuary at 2 p.m. May 22. eeoce MA YER--in a Nevada City hospital May 17, 1963, Claude A. Mayer. He was the husband of Annie Mayer of Grass Valley. He wasa native of Missouri aged 73 and a two week resident of Grass Valley. Hooper Weaver Mortuary was in charge of funeral services. eeeee WIENER--in Grass Valley May 16, 1963, Mrs. Rose Wiener, She wasthe mother of Mrs. Thedore: Niehaus with whom she was visiting at the time of her death, Sister Mary Christine of the Holy Spirit Convent, and Ferdinand Wiener, both of St. Cloud, Minn,, and Mrs, Joseph Niehaus, Otto Wiener, Adolph Wiener and Mrs, Edward Feidler, all of Sauk Centre; and sister of Mrs. Martha Akers of West minister Calif, and Mrs, Fred Brandis of Missoula, Mont., and Frank Treitel of Bowlus, Minn. She was a native of North Prairie, Minn., aged 80 years. A rosary was said May 17 in the Hooper Weaver Mortuary chapel, The body was sent to Sauk Center, Minn., for services and burial. eeee6 HARRY--in Santa Rosa May 17, 1963, Leila May Harry. She was the sister of Harry Odgers of Mariposa; mother of Dorothy Andrews of Santa Rosa; and sister of Edith Rosewall of Oakland, Mary Kitts of Salinas, and Nellie Kruger of Oroville. She was a native of Nevada City aged 86 years anda lifetime resident of the community. Funeral services were held in the Bergemann Funeral Chapel May 20. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery. eeees8 DUSECHI---in a Nevada City hospital May 17, 1963, Lillian Dusechi. The only known survivor is a brother James Dusechi of San Luis Obispo. She was a native of Gaston, Nevada County, now a ghost town, aged 57 years. She later lived many years in Nevada City. Bergemann Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements, e@eesse HOCKING ---in the Miners Hospital in Nevada City, May 14, 1963, William J. Hocking. He was the husband of Nellie H. Hocking of Grass Valley; father of Margaret L. Sym of West Sacramento, Jaunice Lee of Fremont; and brother of Eileen Morton of Grass Valley, and Muriel Tsvetkoff of San Francisco, He was a native of England aged 64 years. He was a reFe empire Star miner and Xo a sesident of Grass Valley since 1915, He was a mem-— beg of the Odd Fellows, the Order of Foresters, andthe Grass Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Funeralservices were held in the Hooper Weaver Mortuary chapel May 15. _ -@ese08 BOWLE---in her car near Grass Valley, May 20, 1963, Mrs, Barbara Bowle of Sacramento. She apparently took her own life by inhaling carbon monoxide, Undersheriff Frank Gallino said the body was found on a side road with a length of hose connected to the inside of the car. She is survived by a husband Louis Bowle, also of Sacramento. The body was taken to Sacramento for funeral arrangements. ‘ eeeoes ALLEN --in the Jones Memorial Hospital May 19, 1963, Ora Woods Allen. She wasthe sister of Mrs. Walter Spidell of Colusa and the twin sister of Mrs, Ida M, Roth of Sacramento. She was anative of Woodland aged 74 years. She wasa retired employe of the Grass Valley post office andthe widow of Charles Allen, a mining man. She retired after 40 years of postal service. She wasa member of the Native Daughters, Companions of theForest of Woodland, and a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge of Winters and the Business and Professional Womens Club of Grass

Wheeler of Grass Valley; and brother of Maude Senseney and Mack Wheeler, both of Reno.
