_ Summer was a’comin’ in up at North San Juan. Will Clerkin, the McCulloughs, Walter and Will, were all driving their cattle up were getting herds organized for the annual cry of “round "em up, move ’em out!”’ This week fifty years ago Classified Ad: Found, license plate No. 206,990 California, on the Downieville Highway. E Reunion picnic planned — for 1964 class of NUHS The Nevada Union High School class of 1964 is planning a 10 year reunion at Alta Sierra Country Club on July 6. The reunion committee is having difficulty’ finding addresses for the following people: Janice Cleek, Paul Hawkin, Michael Mann, Laurence McLead, Dennis Ketchum, NC garden club on garden tour Nevada City Garden Club members toured the landscaped garden of Edna Bansemer recently and saw flowers in full Desserts were served by Zelma Litterer and Ethel Sutherland and President Christine Sonke conducted the business session. Pauline Drake and Hazel. Merriall were welcomed as new members. The club voted to assist the Social -Advocates for Youth program by landscaping at the old Seven Hills School. Hulda Kopp is in charge of the project. Mrs. Bansemer talked about ‘ small plants suitable for dish gardens and demonstrated their planting procedures. Parents are needed as chaperones and if willing to volunteer should call 273-2581. 1974 class first ‘to party at pool PAP screening clinic scheduled _ Working ona grant donated by the American Cancer Society, the Nevada County Health Department will hold its second nesday, May 29. This clinic is free to the general public. Cervical cancer is completely curable when diagnosed early. The PAP test is simple, painless and takes only a few minutes. _ Call 265-2461 for ani appointment. Other services available from the American Cancer Society include transportation to treatment centers in Sacramento for cancer patients. Hospital equipment is supplied on loan for home use. The Order of Eastern Star makes dressings once a week for distribution to cancer patients. Voluntéers who have had a Larngectomy will make home visits to give speech therapy to Larngectomy patients. Reach To Recovery is a program designed to help + mastectomy patients adjust to a new life. These women work with the patient’s doctor. Each of these volunteers has had a mastectomy herself. For eastwest the winners were Marian Jobe Esther Harvey, Margery Harrison Agnes Prisk, Rose Hyatt Aileen Whiting and Kathy Grande Dan Hribal charged with NC theft James Edwin Hribal was charged with burglary by Nevada City police Monday and booked into the county jail. Hribal, 19, of rural Nevada City was arrested after his fingerprints were found near the rear entrance of Len’s Surplus store in Nevada City that was burglarized on May 3, according to Police Chief Jim Moon. Moon said that the surcpect’s fingerprints were found near the rear door of the surplus store and that the door had been forced . open. Brass fittings, a drill and’ other items were removed from the store and the merchandise has not been recovered, said Moon. The police, however, are continuing their investigation according to the chief.
