er Sipe Fe Following installation of Champion Circle, Neighbors of Woodcraft No.325, held April 20 in Nevada City, Mrs. Amelia Evans (left), the newly installed Guardian Neighbor is shown “with the Installing Officer, Mr. Forest Crawford of Chico, and the Retiring Guardian Neighbor, Mrs. Sybil Ridinger. Mrs. Evans fiietalied A red and white theme was used throughout a most unique andimpressive installation when, on April 20, officers, members and guests gathered at California Hall.in Nevada City to witness the installation of the 1967-68 officers of Champion Circle, Neighbors of Woodcraft, No. 325. . Amelia Evans was seated as Guardian Neighbor, after which Sybil Ridinger was seated as Past Guardian Neighbor, following completion of a two-year term. Assisting Mrs. Evans for the coming year will be Mary Jones, Advisor; Eunice Gregory, Magician; Senna Wales, Clerk; Gertrude Pont, Banker; Alice Nelson, Attendant;, Edna Fischer, Musician; Virginia Ammon,,Captain.of,Guards; Mildred Christie, Flag Bearer; Thelma Butz, Outer Sentinel; Margdret McGowan, Inner Sentinel; Neva Schance, Goldie Hughes, and Adelaide Reilly, Managers; Christine Niemi, Senior Guardian; and Margaret. McGowan, Correspondent. Mr. Forest Crawford of. Chico was the installing officer, assisted by Helen Crawford, Virginia Ammon and Edna Fischer. Members of the guard team, very important to the Circle, who escorted the new officers as well as the retiring officers to their stations, were most ' colorful and. outstanding in their drill work .All were dressed in 49er dresses and ‘carried ° matching parasols; those participating were Katherine Williams, Alva Reed, Barbara Early, Jerry Evans, Ann Keith, Gladys Clemo, ‘Lorraine Terrell and Annie Sullivan. In spite of the uncertain weather, dignitaries and visitors came from Chico, Roseville r Auburn, Sacramento and Grass Valley. All honored guests were introduced and seated with the Guardian Neighbor. Guardian Neighbor Amelia Evans thanked all her assistants and friends and then announced Helen Grawford as the-speaker. She made a short but delightful speech, after which congratulations came from other dignitaries and. gifts were presented to the installing and outgoing officers in appreciation for their sepa work. Preceding the ceremonies, a program was _ presented by five talented young ladies .Yvette Gemignani and Joane Hauser entertained with accordion selections. Janet Yun and Susan Simpson, accompanied by Carol Wells on the piano, sang three beautiful numbers. ___ Sybil Ridinger and her committee served refreshments on tables artistically. de. c orated with the red and white color theme. = << + DAR Met April 24. Captain John Oldham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, met at the Cedar Crest home of Mrs, Joel Krogstad-on April 24, Mrs, John Elliott, Regent, presided, Mrs, John T, Cheney of John Rutledge Chapter of Berkeley, anda cousin of Mrs, Krogstad, was a guest, Mrs, Lowell Elster, chairman of American History *Month ace tivities, presented on April 18, a bronze and blue enamel med al to Terry Ann Wheatley at Union Hill Elementary School as the local winner of the DAR. American History Essay Contest, The medal carries the inscription "D.A.R, Award--Excellence in History", Attractive certificates ofparticipation were presented to the seven other entrants--B eth Everhart, Becky Frederick, Willens Hadley, Teresa Merrill, Ronald Nauman, Andy Straub, and Linda Trent, All eight pupils are members of Mr Burle Shelton's eighth grade class, Hisinterest and cooperation was greatly appreciated, Mrs, Elliott, who accompanied Mrs, Elster tothe school, briefly told the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade classes about the beginning and activities of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Then beautiful colored slides of the Washington D.C, headquarters buildings were shown with special emphasison Memorial Continental Hall with the Museum Rooms of each state and the Geneological Library. Mrs, Elster showed these same slides which had been obtained by Mrs, Elliott from Washington, ~to the Ghapter and a second set of slides of Tamassee Daughters. of the American Revolution school at Tamassee, South Carolina, ~Following this program, a de=licious tea was served by the hostess and co-hostess, Mrs, -. Harold Palmer, The meeting on May 22 will be a luncheon at the Bret Harte Inn honoring California State Regent Mrs, Donald Spicer of Coronado and State Vice Regent Mrs, Thomas Coffee of Modesto, Emigrant Trails Chapter of Auburn and Tobias Lear of Marysville will be co-hostesses, Installation By Rebekahs During the April 22 meeting of Esther Rebekah Lodge in Grass Valley, Mrs, Mardel Wasley w as installed as financial secretary by acting Deputy President Gladys Clemo, Acting Deputy Marshal Sybil Ridinger escorted Mrs, Wasley to her new station, which was recently vacated by Mrs, Lorraine Davis who moved from the area, Mrs, Mary Fiori was appointed to the chatr.of Right Altar Bearer, formerly occupied by Mrs. Wasley.
