ee LEGAL NOTICE LEGAL NOTICE (EDA Project No, 07-1--762) CITY OF NEVADA CITY Nevada County, California NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Nevada City, California, will receive bids for the following work: DOWNTOWN BETTERMENT PROJECT PHASE II Each bid shall be in accordance with the plans,-speicifications, and other contract documents now on file with the City Clerk, City Hall, Broad Street, Nevada City, California, where they may be examined and copies obtained upon deposit of $25.00 per set none of which deposit will be refunded. Checks shall be made payable to City of Nevada City. Bidders are hereby notified that pursuant to Section 1770 of the Labor Code of the State of California, the City Council has ascertained the general prevailing rate of hourly wages and rates for legal holidays and overtime work in the locality where this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workmen or mechanics needed to execute the work of the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder. A copy of said rates has been placed on file with the City Clerk and will be made available to any interested party on request, In addition, bidders are here-— by notified that this contract shall contain certain special requirements as set forth in the Information to Bidders, Proposal Form, and other Contract Documents, Included as part of the requirements of the General Conditions of the specifications is the schedule of Wage Determinations of the United States Secretary of Labor and it shall be incumbent upon the successful bidder to pay the minumum hourly wages required tobe paid to the various laborers and mechanics employed directly upon the site of the work, and in case of conflicts with the prevailing rates as determined by the City Council, the maximum rate shall prevail. Notice is hereby given that all bidders may be required to furnish a sworn statement of financial responsibility, technical ability and experience before an award is made to any particular bidder. Vital statistics ADAMS, Alice R., 91, a resident of Grass Valley since 1918, died April 24 in Holiday Hills Convalescent Hospital where she had been a patient since Nov. 3, 1967, She leaves three sons, Jack of Bakersfield; Wayne of Yakima and Ken of Grass Valley; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services were held from the Hooper and Weaver Chapel on April 27, Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, FAGERSTROM, William Robert, 90, died April 23, in Oak Park Nursing Home, Grass Valley. He was a native of Pennsylvania and had lived in this area . for the last five years prior to his death. Survivors include his widow, Louise; a son in Ohio, a daughter in Pennsylvania; and a granddaughter, Louise Anquiana, in Nevada City. Cremation was in Marysville and burial was at sea. PENSABENE, Dominic Vincent, 69, who had resided in Grass Valley for 18 months prior to his death, died April 26 in Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of World War I, and had worked as a photographer for 35 years, He leaves his widow, Betty; ‘two sons, Domonic of Washington, D.C. and Vincent of Texas; two sisters, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, Services were held April 28 from the Bergemann and Son Funeral Chapel. FLETCHER, Roland Henry, 64, died April 25, at Sierra Neo vada Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Thousand Oaks and lived there, working as a Care penter until he retired to Grass Valley six years ago. He leaves his widow, Olga; three sons, Ralph and Pat of Grass Valley and Jack Murphy of Grass Vale ley; three brothers, two sisters and seven grandchildren, Sere vices were held April 28 at the Hooper and Weaver Chapel with burial following in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, COOPER, George Edward, 35, was killed early on April 27 in an auto accident on Brunswick Road. He came to this area from southern California three years ago, He leaves his widow, Sally Ann; four step-daughters; one sister anda half-sister, Services were held from the Hooper and Weaver Chapel on April 29 with burial in Elm Ridge Lawn Cemetery. McMASTER, William Earl, 75, a resident of Grass Valley for the past 13 years, died April 24 at the Reno Veterans’ Administration Hospital. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U. S. Army; and was a retired carpenter, He leaveshis widow Mary, of Grass Valley; one sister, Florence Kuliga of Wisconsin; one brother, Archie, of Wisconsin; two stepsons, Robe ert Kochis of Grass Valley and Joseph Kochis of Montana and eight grandchildren. Services were conducted from the Hooper and Weaver Chapel on April 27, with cremation in Marysville. ATWELL, Martha, 77, died April 20 at her home, She was a native of Indiana and had lived in this area for 16 years prior to her death. Her survivors include a son, John B, Atwell of Menlo Park and three grandchildren. She was the wife of the late’ Boyd Atwell. Services were held from the Bergemann and Son Chapel on April 24. Burial was in the Belmont Memorial Park at Fresno on April i 25. TE LOVE, Russell Edward, 78, a 16-year resident of Nevada City, father of Marcella Carson, county treasurer and tax collector, died April 23 in Miners Hospital. Love's family were Oregon pioneers. He was a veteran of World War I, and served as security officer for Hurley Marine Works during World War II. In addition to Mrs, Carson, he is survived by a son, Russell A. Love, Jr. of Napa, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services were held from the Bergeman and Son Chapelon April 25. * *K * HUGI, Rubenia C., 72, a resident of the area for 31 years, died April 22 at Auburn Convalescent Hospital in Auburn. She was a native of Mooretown and was the widow of Ernest Hugi who died in 1960, She leaves six daughters, Mrs, Allen Dunlap of Orland, Mrs. Harold Feathers of Truckee, Mrs. Noreen Hiscox of Alleghany, Mrs, Gene Peyret of Grass Valley, Mrs. Joseph Costa of Auburnand Mrs, Charles Ellis of Union City, Tenn; two sons, Fredric and Gordon, both of Grass Valley; five sisters, one brother, 37 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
