Hennessy School student Bruce Bernardis received the outstanding patrolman award of the year presented by Bennallack and Bill Goldman, district manager of the California State Automobile Association. Their songs are primarily contemporary Christian music which has a special appeal to youth-today and also receives a ready response from adults. The concert, to start at 7:30 p.m. is open to the public. A free will offering will be received. The church meets at the Forest Springs Farm Center on Hwy. 49 south of Grass Valley with Bible School at 10 and morning and evening services at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. McAvoy killed in auto crash George Paul McAvoy, 44, a salesman for Bob Levy Volkswagen in Auburn, died Sunday following a three-car accident on Highway 49 near Auburn. According to the Placer county California Highway Patrol office none of the three cars collided. Two cars were northbound on Hwy. 49 about five miles north of Auburn. The first car signaled for a left turn and the second car didn’t see the turn signal in time to stop. He swerved to avoid hitting the turning car. McAvoy, southbound, saw the left turning car and swerved onto the bank, his car crossed the highway and struck a telephone pole. Mr. AcAvoy was taken to Auburn Faith Hospital. Lester Harold Gregerson of Auburn and Harvey Grant Miller of Meadow Vista were the two northbound drivers. Mr. McAvoy was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force in World War II and Korea. He leaves his wife, Dorothy; children, Mark, David, Charles, Philip, Marianne and Kathleen and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McAvoy, all of Auburn and a sister, Alice Neugauabaur of Ohio.
