Soil scientist
assigned to
. Tahoe Forest
Fred O. Sutter, Jr., was
recently assigned as_ Soil
Scientist on the Tahoe National
Forest. Sutter transferred from
the Six Rivers National Forest
at Eureka, where he had been
soil scientist since the fall of
1970.
Prior to that, Sutter has been
involved in forest inventory and
timber stand improvement work
and has worked as a fire lookout
and with a helitak crew in fire
suppression.
Since his first Forest Service
experience on the Sierra
National Forest in 1966, he has
also served on the Klamath
National Forest. Sutter earned
his B.S. degree in Forest
Management in 1967 from
California State University at
. Humboldt.
His M.S. in Watershed
Management is pending on the
completion of his thesis which
deals with soils associated with
different coniferous species,
undertaken near Russian Peak
on the Klamath National Forest.
