a friend on the South Yuba
River, according to

and tried artificial respiration
but to no avail. A passerby with
a radio called the sheriff’s office
and the Nevada City rescue car
was dispatched. The rescue
squad also tried artificial
respiration before taking young
McLeod to Sierra Nevada
Memorial Hospital where he
was pronounced dead.
