Jr Miss Pageant plans under way
Plans are being made for the
Grass Valley Jaycees' sixth annual Junior Miss Pageant,
For the girls who participate
there is an opportunity to win
part of $500 in scholarships being offered, the opportunity to
gain the state finals and the
chance to go on and be chosen
the nation's "First Lady of
Youth."
The Grass Valley Junior Miss
ageant is a program to recog-,
nize, reward and encourage ¢x-'
cellence in our young people,
Pageants are held in 1,425
communities across the country. The idea behind the pageant
is to honor the ideal high school
girls. The winners are sent to
state competition.
State Junior Miss winners advance to the national finals which
are held in Mobile, Alabama,
The sixth annual Grass Valley Pageant will be held on
Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Lyman
Gilmore School, ;
This pageant is not a beauty
contest. It emphasizes the positive and stresses the overall
growth and development of the
girl.
Judging is in the following
categories: personality, intelligence, participation in worthwhile activities, creativity,
talent and general appearance.
The girl who enters _thepageant will receive a wealth of
experience, The experience is a
dream in reality. She will make
