The grant, to be made under Public Law 8910, would cover an 18 month feasibility study of the establishment of the science service center for the three counties, The study would determine if it is feasible to have such a center, how it would be organized and operated, what services it would provide and what the activities would be. The criteria for the center and for the proposed study would be set up by a governing board of professional administrators and local citizens. It is hoped that teachers could be freed from teaching duties from time to time to confer with the consultants making the study in an effort to exchange ideas in an attempt to develop new methods for the teaching of science, At the present time, the Sierra College campus in Rocklin is being considered as the site for the proposed science service center, It is not known at this time how long it will take to obtain the initial $150,000 planning grant. Once the study is completed and it has been determined that the project is feasible, then the boards in the three counties hope to apply fora federal grant to help with construction of the center, Zoning Ordinance Discussed (Continued from Page 1) “Dont you have faith in the people," Barry asked Paine? "No, " Paine said, "I believe the public should be partners in our actions, " Paine asked Barry why he was suddenly so intent on taking this particular matter before the people when he had willingly voted on many other ordinances without asking the people to vote on them, Barry said on big matters the people should have the right to vote, He noted the question of installing parking meters was put to a vote of the people, “I have faith in the voters, " he said, "I'm sure the press got it down, Ben," Paine said, “you said it three times, " "I wouldn't be reluctant to say the public had a chance to vote on the freeway," Councilman Marshal Jensen added, “and they did so well on that," "Yes," Paine added, “my mind reverts to that too, “ S96T ‘TT JoquicAoN***1083nN Aiun0D epeaen’** QQ
