The county planning commission went along with the board
of supervisors Monday night for
two additional exemptions to the
new zoning at Bitney’s Corner.
The commission voiced its
approval of the board's action
to exclude both the Swap and
Shop and property owned by Ray
’ Balleweg. The only negative vote
was cast by Chairman Bert Livingston on the Balleweg exclusion for the same reason he was
against one earlier for the Albert Lausche property.
Both involve unimproved land
with no commercial businesses
on them at this time, although
Balleweg contended to the supervisors that he bougiit his
preperty in hopes of developing
commercial,
Last week, the supervisors
approved rezoning of Bitney’s
from unclassified to singlefamily residential-agricilture
with a minimum building site
of 20,000 square feet. The two
exemptions to be added were
returned to the commission to
get that body's opinion,
Livingston noted Monday that
all the exemptions involved either commercial property or
property that the owners hope
will become commercial, Thus,
he made a motion that the commission initiate rezoning of
those parcels to commercial,
However, Livingston's motion
failed 2-3, He was joined by
Francis Longo, but Neil Hennessy, Wes Moore and Roy Peterson opposed it.
In other action the commission:
