Aurora Chapter No . Aurora Chapter No. 40, Order of the Eastern Star, held it's 87th ins= tallation of officers, Nov. 12, in the Masonic Temple of Grass Valley. June Litke and Herman Fuller were installed as Worthy Maton and Worthy Patron; Helen Williamson and Wayne Williamson, as Associate Matron and Associate Patron; Loraine Keast, secretary; Frank Knuckey, treasurer; Bertha Hannebrink, conductress; and Mary Carney, associate conductress. Maureen Wood was installed as chaplain; Alice Collins, marshal; Flossie Clark, organist; Marianne Kennedy, Adah; Della Polley, Ruth; Louise Luzmoor, Esther; Elizabeth Kennedy, Martha; Gordon, E lecta; Marian Tremewan, Warder, and Ben Hannebrink, sentinel. The installing officers were Worthy Matron, Alice Collins; W.M. Worthy Patron, Aldridge Macey, W.P.; Chaplain, Beryl Richards; P.M.; Marshal, Ruth Brooks; Marshal, Winifed Martin; P.M., and Organist, Betty Lee Frost, P.M. Marie Trathen, P.M. and Walter Wieger, P.P. were. hostess and host for the evening ceremonies. Bonnie Davis, P.M., was the Bible Bearer, and Jacquie FrostQueen, Bethel No. 102, asescort. "There's Music in the Air", "Angel's Serenade". and "Leibesfreud" was presented by a trio consisting of Mary Davis, violin; Esther Ross, violin; and Echo Birnie, piano, also a violin solo "Meditation" by Mary Davis accompanied by Esther Ross at the piano. Worthy Matron June Litke's motto will be "Let me be Understanding" and "Wings of Music" (Flying Note) willbe the emblem. The colors for the year are turquoise and coral and the flower is the Rhododendron family. Danae Hubbard, P.M. was in charge of the guest book. William Carney and Sam Partridge were the ushers. Roberta Frost and Ellen Haskell were in charge of the programs. Refreshments were served on tables beautifully decorated in the Worthy Matron's colors, Decorations were by Margie Keckler, P.M., Bonnie Davis, P.M. and Jane Wieger, P.M. Leta Breuer, P.M., Margarette. McKibben, P.M., Beulah Maltman, P.M., and Freda Thomas, P.M., were hostesses of the dining room. Dorothy Richards, Irene Eldridge, Deanna Hoffman, Ivy Knuckey, Nellie Martin and Lulu Patterson, were the refreshment committee. * OK OK * forefathers went out and Today you A pproximately 250 attended and enjoyed Ralph and@ Carole Freidrick's "Helldorado 1966" of Burnt Cork and Melody, held last Saturday night by the B.P.O.E. No. 518, in the Nevada City Hall. A colored ministrel, made up of local talent, and produced and directed by Joan and Len Gilbert, with Len Gilbert as the 'Interlocutor", Babe Childers as "Bones" and Buteh Casci as "'Tambo", was filled with laughs and lively entertainment from beginning to end. Jerry Austin, Don Daniels, Sr., Turk O'Hara, and Dale Percy were the musicians. Arch McPherson and Joe Day, Jr., came up with
some lively and appropriate solos. A quartette "Paul and the Bearers" consisting of Paul Bergemann, Jr.; Jim Moon, Ole Renningen, and Herb Dodini, proved tobe most amusing. Bub Tobiasson did a soft shoe dance. The cast included Pauline Bergemann, ‘Goldie Frish, Teddy Ronningen, Frances Dodini, Jim Kendrick, Vi Childers, Doris Bertram, Judy Casci, Eileen Moon, Marge Tobiasson, Carol Kendrick, Joan Gilbert, and Wendell Clark. Pauline Mullis was in charge of the makeup. Al Frisch acted as curtain man. Dancing to the music of Bunny Crites and his seven piece band completed the evening. ** kk The Nugget... . Rebekah Lodge No.9 Nominates The first nomination of officers was held during the meeting of Esther Rebekah Lodge No. 9, Saturday night, in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Hall, Grass Valley. Noble Grand Zale Johnson Presided. December 10 was set for the birthday dinner to be held in the dining hall of the Lodge. Mary Gage will chairman the event. The second nomination of officers will be held Nov. 26, at the regular meeting. Refreshments were served on tables beautifully and artistically decorated with blooming flowers representing the new officers coming in, and fading leaves for the retiring officers. Marvin Kitts was chairman of the all men committee. ‘rhe eldestand the youngest members of Pioneer _ .Art Association inspecting paper decorations during a recent meeting of the club. Pioneer Art Association Holds Demonstration Ann Merritt gave an interesting de monstration on the making of crepe paper decorations and articles of styrofoam during the recent meeting of the Pioneer Art association. Previous to the demonstration, abusiness meeting was conductedat which time reports of committees were heard and future shows were discussed. By-laws were distributed among those present. Pictures were brought by members for screening and distribution. Paintings are hung for show in the Mother Lode Banks, Grass Valley and Nevada City Banks of America, Wells Fargo Banks, and the Mid Valley Savings & Loan, and are changed every two months. The aim of the Pi~neer Artistes is to air and promote artists and the visual arts in this area of Nevada County, and to create a general art appreciation among all. The club meets on the 10th of each month and have sketching groups each week in the Seven Hills School. * KK * Wesley Schulze To Attend 4-H Club Congress Wesley Schulze, Banner 4~-HClub, will attend the National4-H Club Congress in Chicago, Ill. Nov. 27 to Dec, 1, according to Nevada County Farm Advisor Les McCabe announced today. Wesley, sonof Mr. and Mrs. Russell Schulze, Rt 1, Box775, Grass Valley, was the 1965-66 Nevada County All Star and has completed projects inbeef, sheep, food preparation, electric and Junior leader, in the county awards program he was a winner in achievement, beef, twice in leadership, and twice in. electricity. Wesley was awarded the trip asa result of of his placing in the Achievement category of the California Awards program.
