be heldinNevada County, it was
announced today by Miss Irene
Simpson, president of the Conference of California Historical Sosieties.
An invitation toholdthe meet~
ing in Nevada City was extended
by the Nevada County Historical
Society. It was accepted by the
Conference, meeting in Sacramento.
A similar invitation to hold the
annual of the Conference in Nev~
ada County is under consideration.
R. Coke Wood, executive sec~
retary of the organization, said
he hoped that either the sympos~
ium or the annual meeting could
be held in the proposed University of California Summer Theater
in the annex of the National
Hotel, just as the Conference has
held meetings in Fallon Tneater
at Columbia.
The Conference accepted Nevada City's invitation for the Fall
Symposium so that the group
could see the famed fall coloring
of Nevada County. The sympos~
sium will be held early in October, with Isabel Hefelfinger, former official of the Conference,
in charge of local arrangements.
Miss Hefelfinger said the date
has not yet been chosen. Conferees will gather on a Friday
night for registration and a business meeting. The symposium
will take place ona Saturday,
with a featured speaker slated to
address the group that night. A
Sunday tour will be planned.
This year's symposium was held
in Southern Oregon.

Fire loss was only partially
covered by insurance.
Nevada City firemen were
aided by a Grass Valley rig and
