I, too, have seen them there for many weeks; and it does seem that with all the "improving" going on downtown right now, someone ought to have a little more’ pride in our fown's. appearance. . .and do something about removing those old cars, It would be interesting to know why they were just "dumped off" there in the first place, and more interesting to know how long ‘they are to be left there. What a blot on our landscape! Talk about “litter laws" and "pollution"; where do those two items figure in this situation? Sincerely, /s/ MRS, ALBERT AUSTERMANN Nevada City, California (Editor's Note: We also wonder when those old, abandoned car bodies will be removed — and by whom? Just had a confab with our circulation manager, who presented me with up-to-the-minute circulation tally lists for checking purposes. We now have subscribers in such interesting places as Juneau, Alaska, Vienna, Austria, and 27 of the 48 contiguous States. .. to mention a few. Bulk of our subscribers are in Northern-California — with heavy emphasis on Nevada County. .. .and the names will soon number 1,000! However, the point of this yarn is the fact that our readers on the "outside" are — for the .most part — former resi-dents who like to keep in touch with what is going on in the county; and who do not, for various reasons, take the daily ‘paper. A case in point. . .quoting from a letter written by a long-time subscriber in New York State: "We cannot presently afford to take a daily paper from home, so depend upon the Nugget for much other information that that contained in. the neighborhood. news of North San Juan, We still own property there, and like to know how things are going. .. thanks for printing so much county news." So, if occasionally some items seem like "duplication" to local readers. .. just keep in mind the fact that there are many others who do not see the daily paper. We have to keep our coverage balanced as equitably as possible at all times. .. .to TRY to make you all happy readers! * kK * * Another Thanksgiving Day will greet us on the morrow — at least this great national holiday hasn't been switched to a Monday, yet. That in itself is something to be thankful for — but enjoy it while you may, because I betcha there'll come the day when this, too, shall pass over to Monday! Happy Turkey Day to one and all!
