GRASS VALLEY ---The
Marysville Indians walloped
the Nevada Union Miners
14-0 at the fairgrounds
Thanksgiving Day. The
game was played after having been rained out earlier
in the season.
NU kicked off and stopped
the Indians on the 40 yard
line. The Miners could not
make any appreciable yardage and were forced to punt.
The Indians then drove down
the field and pushed through
for a touchdown and a conversion, making the score
170,
Inthe second quarter, NU
was again forcedto punt, and
Marysville again drove down
the field to the three yard
line, where Harley Finley
threw toRick Wagner for the
touchdown. The conversion
by Durham was good and the
score stood at 14-0,
In the second half, although there was no scoring;
the Miners did get a drive
under way. After receiving
the kick-off NU moved down
the field to the 20 yard line
where a pass to Mark Paye
wasintercepted. This was as
close as the Miners got to
scoring.
The Miners drove to the
25 yard line to end the third
quatter.
In the final period, although the Miners put up
quite a fight, it was tono
avail. Both teams attempted
to gain yardage but the game
ended 14-0, Marysville victorious.
This was the last game of
the season. The NU Miners
have won 2 games and lost
4, ;
The A and B basketball
games are coming up in December, as well as wrestling.
