Pictures Lest We Forget by Jack Miner Many of you will remember Fred Miller, capable mining engineer, community builder and good friend, Fred lived on Auburn Street in Grass Valley with his family. The old home, near the new Medical Center and the Mother Lode Bank, stood there until recently. He was County Surveyor when D, F, Douglas, killed in the line of duty, was the Sheriff; when John Greany -was County Clerk, Frank Snell Treasurer, John Calwell Superior Judge, P, T. Riley District Attorney and Tirey L, Ford represented Nevada County in the State Senate, We see Fred Miller in his lieutenant's uniform when he volunteered to serve the Nation during the Spanish American War, The Photo was taken in 1898.
