David Doolan, a newcomer to Rough and Ready, has certainly
taken a sincere and active part in the affairs of his new community.
David is the son of Sgt. and Mrs, Doolan a recent addition to our
Mobile Homes Park. Since Sid Fippin has had to take life easy
David has attended to the daily flag raising ceremonies, Its
thrilling to see "Old Glory" flying in our shopping center each
shining new day. There are two other flags in our little town
that you can always be sure will be there when you pass,

Mr. and Mrs, Dennis Elliott also of the Rough and Ready
Mobile Homes Park are the proud parents of a brand new baby
girl, Deanna Ann Elliott born October 30. Mrs. Elliott is the
former Diane Hopkins. Her sister Carol became Mrs, Frank
Watson at the Little Wedding Chapel on November 18, The
Watsons will make their home in Quincy.

Carl Bolton is in the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.
This time Carl has a broken leg. He rode his horse to the Post
Office Friday evening to collect the mail. It was reported that
the horse slipped on the smooth paved area across the highway,
and Carl's leg was pinned beneath him as he fell, It was reported
as a very serious break just above the ankle and also just below
the knee. It is expected that Carl's leg may be in a cast for 6
months,

Young Ronald Prochaska hasn't been feeling too well lately.
He has just completed a series of mighty uncomfortable tests,
Fortunately: it wasn't serious and Ronald is getting along fine now.
School as usual!

Mrs, Violet Hawson of Rough and Ready had her family,
daughters Allene , Medlyn and Dorothy Henson, together for
Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Henson and their two children
of Greenville joined the family circle at the home of Mr, and
Mrs. Ernest Medlyn and four children in the Sunset District.

The Charles Deardorfs’ spent Thanksgiving with Mrs. Deardorf's sister, Mrs, Elliot Jones in Menlo Park. The Deardorfs
are busy getting settled in their new home and made their visit
just for the day. Clara says their visit with the Jones’ was
lovely but she is glad to be home out of the Smog and Traffic.

‘Mr, and Mrs Roy Bradley had a houseful of Thanksgiving
company. Mr, and Mrs. Paul Bailey from Highland in Southern
California, former home of the Bradleys, came for the Holiday
«weekend and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bradley and Mr. and Mrs.
Wallace Apland of Turlock were Thanksgiving Day guests.

Mrs, O.E. Boling of Oakland, daughter of the Bert Spaites,
and her three children spent their Thanksgiving holiday in the
country at "Grandma's House," Granddaughter Susan Boling
likes Rough and Ready and is a frequent visitor here. Mrs, Pat
Boling is busy keeping the "home fires burning" while father is
doing his stint in the armed services.

There was a family gathering at the Peter Roccos for Thanksgiving. Mrs. Roccos' young brothers Gerald and Richard and
sisters Monica and Sherry Paddock came to the country for their
holiday. According to Mrs. Rocco, with her three children.
Claudia, Joe, and Paul; it was a riot but also a wonderful Thanksgiving. Sister Laura Paddock, who had tobe on the job, came long
enough to say, hello, and take the youngsters home,

William Grubs, Don Long, and Peter Rocco spent
moving the Big Timbers from the Gold Center
Mine building to Rough and Ready for use in restoring the old
Fippin Blacksmith Shop. In honor of Mr. Grub's birthday Mrs.
Willis Perry and Mrs. Doris Bradley served the workers pie
and coffee after the job was done.

Rough and Ready 4-H Club has planned a real Christmas
Party for the community on Dec. 16th at the Community Hall.
There will be an excellent musical program and a Christmas
skit by the 4-H'ers, Just before the holidays the club plans to
visit 1U rest homes singing carols and distributing cookies. Mrs,
George Small is adult chairman for the clubs Christmas plans,

Rough and Ready will hold its third monthly card party on
Tuesday Dec. 5 at 8:00 p.m. at the Rough and Ready Hall. Mrs,
Doris Bradley and Mrs. Lisetta Scheave, who handle the card
parties for the chamber, have been Serarching for a day, when
the hall is available that is agreeable to all, for a regular date.
They have selected the second Tuesday of each month for 1968,

Rough and Ready Grange will hold its regular afternoon
public party on Sunday Dec. 3 instead of the usual second Sunday.
There will be no Saturday night public party in December,

The Fire Department Auxiliary will hold its Christmas meeting Monday Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Broadus and her committees
have planned some special Christmas fun, The Newcomers
Lyric Ensemble will provide the musical portion of the program.

The Rough and Ready Secession Day Doll Committee will
meet at the home of Mrs. Bert Spaite on Friday Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.

At the invitation of the William Dockters the Independent Order
of Foresters Caravan Club of Sacramento visited Rough and Ready
last Sunday. Trail master, Tom Duhig, and Mrs. Frank Himenes
Trail Blazer organized the trip because of the groups interest
in the community and its history. The Dockters greeted
the caravan at there home and served them a hot fruit punch,
Later they provided the main dish for a pot luck luncheon which
was served to about 40 caravaners at the Rough and Ready Community Hall,
The chamber of commerce provided the afternoon program.
Mr, and Mrs. Jerry Siegfried and son Tom showed their beautiful
collection of nuggets. Mary O'Neal and Virginia Rocco showed
and explained the gold panning process-even got a little "black
sand." Mrs, O'Neal also showed an old fashioned sluice box
and explained how it worked. History of the community and its
old buildings and current activities were discussed by chamber
President Fay Dunbar. Asa Fippin allowed the group to visit
the old blacksmith shop. They were fascinated by some of the
old artifacts found inside, Marguerite Spaite selected a Secession
doll for the group to raffle. Mrs, Dockter was also permi to purchase one to raffle. The proceeds were turned
over to the chamber for use on one of its community programs,

were donated to the Sierra College Blood Reserve Drive held
on campus November 9 during
