Fully Equiped To Dye All Types Of Leather Articles The Cafffornia Highway Commission today adopted a freeway routing for 11.2 miles of Highway 49 between Sierra City and 4 Yuba Pass in Sierra Couna ty. = The adopted route generally follows the existing highway but. eliminates many sharp curves and steep pitches. It was recommended by State Highway Engineer J. C. Womack. A public meeting called by the Division of Highways was held in Sierra City June 3, at which time the recommended route was discussed. The commission announced in October that it was Freeway Routing Set For Sierra City Area considering the adoption of a freeway routing and the Sierra County Board of Superviscrs was_ informed. Subsequently the supervisors waived a public hearing on the matter by the commission. Plans. .of the Division of Highways call for the construction of a modern twolane highway with control of access and with provision for ultimate expnasion to four lanes when required. Cost of the initial two lanes, including rights of way for four lanes, is estimated at approximately $3,000,000. Start.of construction will depend on the availability of future highway funds.
