SACRAMENTO. — State Parks and. Recreation: Director
William Penn Mott Jr. announced today that negotiations have
beencompleted with Ticketron,. Inc. for a computerized reservation system. for state. park campsites and for tours at. Hearst
San Simeon State Historic Park.
“There are still some operational details to be worked
" Mott said,."but we hope to have the system ready for
Hearst Castle tours. before the-end of the year, and for camp-sites by January 4, 1971."
Mott explained that anyone wanting a Hearst tour or.camp-.
‘site reservation will merely have to walk. up: to any.one of the
230 Ticketron terminals located throughout the state and make
direct, paid, confirmed reservations, If there is nota terminal.
nearby, he added, the reservations can be made by mail directly
with the department headquarters in Sacramento. Complete
details will be announced later.
"The system is similar. to the one we had in operation
last year," Mott said; "Unfortunately, the company providing
the service ceased its operation just three months afterit started, but not before we found that. a computerized reservation
system was not only practical, but acceptable to. the public as :
well,
"The new system, we feel is superior to the old one in
that Ticketron has nearly four times the number of computer
terminals, and has them spread over a much larger area.
Terminals are located in such major stores and businesses
as Sears and Roebuck, Pacific Savings and Loan, May Company,
Union Bank, Harris and Frank, World Savings and Loan, Broadway Stores, and Emporium Stores."
