School Board Seven Hills On Agenda Nevada Union High School Governing Board--regular meeting. Present: Harold Geroge, Sr., WilliamJ. Austin, Weston W. Brunker, James Willis, R. Peter Ingram. The final vote onthe resolution to sell Seven Hills School to Nevada City School District was held over untilthe next regular meet~ ing. The legal papers have not been completed and the vote could not be taken. The Board voted to pay the salaries and warrants. The remainder of the meeting was spent in a presentation by Superinten~dent Gelatt ‘and discussion and questions by the members on cur~ riculum and building plans and graduation requirements. The Board now meets twice a month so there will be time to consider more than just the pressing business of the school. The Educational Philosophy policy of the Board states, "The primary objective of the schools is the intellectual develop ment of the pupils, each according to his own ability and interest, andthe stimulation of desire for further learning”. Changes in requirements and curriculum structure to better fulfill this objective were discussed. Gelatt told the board that there are two main ways a high school can be organized--departmental or small schools within the school. Nevada Union High School is or~ ganized on::a departmental basis and the architect is working on the future plans for the school on this basis. The curriculum and requirements should also be planned this way. The Board will discuss these areas more in the future. — [Silverware .
