presided over the meeting in
the absence of Victor Engstrom, outgoing president.
The incoming officers
were: Jack Costa, president;
Carol Wilcox, vice presitary; and Mike McCormack ,
treasurer,
Members were appointed
tothe following committees:

The club decided to sell
candy before Christmas.

Even before the placer diggings petered out, miners
turned to farming the fertile, often water thirsty, valleys
of California, And towns and cities Sprang up; they,
needed power for lights and industries, So the engineers
built dams on our rivers, often using the old site of the
dams constructed by miners of the gold rush period,
Here you see two such undertakings that were constructed forthe dual purpdse of supplying both water and
electric power. In one of the photos of the Colgate Head
Dam you can see, in the foreground of the newer conconcrete fill, the remnants of the early miner's dam,
