During the assem-~ bly, the Girls‘ Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Baggett, sang “Sixteen, Going on Seventeen, “and "Beautiful, But Truthful.” After this, Gail Thomas, sophomore class princess , entered the gymnasium escorted. by Ronnie Ray, followed by the junior princess, Kris Engstrom esc orted by John Frantz. Last of all, the senior princess, Sandra Carveth, was escorted into the gym by Dan Stewart and crownedas Homecoming Queen of 1961. Afterthis bit of pageantry, the students were dismissed, either to go home, orto assemble on the new lawn for competition between the classes. The four events which comprised the competition were: a sack race over an obstacle course; tug-o'-war; a rooster scramble; anda greased-pole climb. The seniors won thecompetition witha score of fifteen points. The junior and sophomore classes each had four points.
